Mesa is a popular destination for golfers and boasts a number of golf courses with amazing scenery. Las Sendas Golf Club and Superstition Springs are two of the best public courses, with a number of private courses also available.
Downtown Mesa is a vibrant area known for its eclectic shops, restaurants, and music venues. The Arizona Museum of Natural History showcases dinosaur bones, and kids will enjoy a day at the Arizona Museum for Youth. Theater lovers will want to experience Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre and a performance by the Southwest Shakespeare Company.
On the first Friday of every month, downtown Mesa hosts Motorcycles on Main, a family-friendly motorcycle show. Attendants can browse motorcycles or bring their own while also enjoying live music. The city is also hosts the annual Arizona Bike Week.
Parks and Outdoor Recreation
Mesa’s location borders the Sonoran Desert, which means that it is close to a number of great outdoor attractions, although temperatures can reach over 100 degrees in the summer. The Apache Trail makes for a perfect day trip.
In their cars, visitors can retrace the path of Apache Indians and 18th century prospectors through the Superstition Mountains. Nearby Superstition Mountain Museum tells the tale of old gold mines in the area. The town of Wickenburg offers hiking and tours of the historic western town.
